September 2025

President's Corner
A word from VAS President - Dan Foutz

To all our supporters, athletes, coaches, sponsors, and volunteers.

As we wind down summer, we look forward to the changing colors of fall, football, and the kids back in school. The recent cooler than average temperatures make for a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors and take in some good ole vitamin D. We are preparing for the Star City Half Marathon, 10K, and Kid’s Mile Fun Run. This race marks the final leg of the Virginia’s Blue Ridge Triple Crown. This is one of the longest running endurance races in the area. This race is affectionately known as “flat and fast with a bump in the road.” The swag and the post-race party with food and beverages from around Roanoke make this race extra special. Start your Holiday Season off right with a brisk November foot race.

When: November 22, 2025       Where: Rivers Edge North on Reserve Ave.       Time: 8:00 AM

Please take time to read our September “Spotlight Team.” An AAU 13U basketball team from Virginia Beach entered our tournament for the first time. They had a wonderful experience in our most popular sport.

Please keep in mind that Virginia Amateur Sports is a 501(c)(3) organization. As always, we appreciate your support and participation. Continue to train, practice, and prepare, and I look forward to seeing you all out there!

Best to all!

Dan Foutz
