President's Corner
A word from VAS President - Dan Foutz
To all our supporters, athletes, coaches, sponsors, and volunteers.
The Virginia Commonwealth Games “Main Games Weekend” occurred at Liberty University in July. Once again, we lit the cauldron to commemorate Virginia’s games. We had the honor of having Coach Delethea Quarles as our guest speaker to talk about her experience as a coach on the Team USA Track and Field team last summer in the Paris France Olympics. We had a symbolic passing of the torch from the City of Lynchburg's, Mayor, Larry Taylor, to the members of the Richmond Region. They later handed the torch to Coach Quarles and Madison Whitbeck, the newly crowned Miss Virginia, to light the cauldron. The games began and we had a great weekend of spirited competition.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 10-year run in the City of Lynchburg and on the campus of Liberty University. We thank everyone for their support and hospitality. Now, we set our sights on our state capital in Richmond, Virginia. The games are for all Virginians, and we look forward to seeing you in Richmond in 2026. Please continue to check our website as we will start to secure venues for the games.
Please keep in mind that Virginia Amateur Sports is a 501(c)(3) organization. Please consider donating to our organization in supporting our efforts in promoting the values of health and wellness through competitions, education, and training for all Virginians. Click here to donate now.
