To all our supporters, athletes, coaches, sponsors, and volunteers,
Happy New Year! 2026 is here and off to a great start. This year will offer many new beginnings as the Virginia Commonwealth Games head for the capital city of Richmond. Planning is starting to come together, and the excitement continues to grow. While the Games will be in Richmond, we will also be celebrating America250, our country’s 250th year. Stay tuned to our website as we build on what will be the best Games ever.
Through the years our youth basketball tournament has been our most participated sport. Our basketball co-coordinators Charles Redd and Helen Ferguson have been working diligently to make sure the transition goes smoothly. Please check out our “Spotlight Article” in this month’s edition on how their progress is going. It’s no secret that both Charles and Helen have spots on the Virginia Amateur Sports “Wall of Honor.”
Please keep in mind that Virginia Amateur Sports is a 501(c)(3) organization. Please consider donating to our organization to support our efforts in promoting the values of health and wellness through competitions, education, and training for all Virginians. Click here to donate now.
If you are interested in sponsoring a youth team. Please contact me for more information at dfoutz@commonwealthgames.org. Thank you for your consideration.
As always, we appreciate your support and participation. Continue to train, practice, and prepare, and I look forward to seeing you all out there!
Best to all!
