President's Corner
A word from VAS President - Dan Foutz
To all our supporters, athletes, coaches, sponsors, and volunteers,
We held our Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon on May 3rd. The weather was perfect, and the water temperature was at 72 degrees. We had 360 athletes on the line, and ironically, 142 athletes were there for their first triathlon. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who showed up; it was truly a great event. Now we turn our attention to the Virginia Commonwealth Games at Liberty University. Registrations are filling up quickly, so get yours in now and make your plans for destination Lynchburg, VA. Our boys’ and girls’ basketball will once again be our largest event, with upwards of 130 teams competing. Check out our featured article on the Rockingham Royals from the Harrisonburg area in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley is an interesting story about their growth in the Games.
Please keep in mind that Virginia Amateur Sports is a 501(c)(3) organization. Please consider donating to our organization to support our efforts in promoting the values of health and wellness through competitions, education, and training for all Virginians. Click here to donate now.
